ENGINEERING TOMORROW’S MOBILITY
Electric vehicles introduce new powering architectures leading to specific fluid requirements.
We have developed solutions to help you stay one step ahead of the competition and accelerate the uptake of reliable, energy-efficient high-performance electric vehicles.
ELECTRUM is a range of transmission fluids, greases and coolants dedicated to meet present and future generations of electric vehicles.
LEADING TOMORROW’S E-MOBILITY CHARGE
The EV market continues to be driven by tightening environmental regulations, advances in battery technology and attractive economic benefits. Government mandates and incentives are accelerating adoption, while lower operating costs and improved performance are making EVs increasingly competitive.
In 2023 alone, almost 14 million new electric cars were registered globally, with Europe, China and US leading the charge, bringing their total number on the roads to 40 million. By EV drivetrain in the same year, Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs) have accounted for twothirds of that growth with 9.5 million new vehicle registrations – more than double the number of 2021.
In the longer term, it is predicted that by 2030, EVs will represent more than 60% of vehicles sold globally.
LUBRICANT NEEDS OF ELECTRIC VEHICLES
EV DRIVELINE & COOLING CONSTRAINTS
An Electric Vehicle (EV) is powered by electricity. Unlike conventional vehicles that use gasoline or diesel-powered engines, electric cars use one or more electric motors powered by electricity from batteries.
Electric vehicles have been gaining traction for the last couple of decades, however the development of specialised fluids is just beginning to build momentum.
Thermal management, electrical conductivity and component protection are just a few of the main complex challenges which conventional fluids cannot handle.
